JESSUP, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vorbeck Materials Corp., developer of the world’s first commercial product using graphene technology, was selected as the winner of the 2010 World Technology Award in the Materials category. Vorbeck received the award from a field of 20 corporate nominees including IBM Research, Xerox Research, Intel, and A123 Systems.

The World Technology Awards are sponsored by the World Technology Network (WTN) in association with TIME, Fortune Magazine, CNN, Science Magazine, Technology Review, and Kurzwel. The winners were announced at a gala ceremony Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at the Time & Life Building in New York City by CNN Correspondent, Ali Velshi, and WTN Founder and Chairman, James P. Clark.
Vorbeck's graphene products are based on technology developed at Princeton University. Graphene consists of sheets of carbon a single atom thick. The material has generated considerable excitement for its unique electrical, thermal, and physical properties and was the subject of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2010. Vorbeck’s Vor-ink™ line of conductive inks and coatings for electronics applications is the first commercial product based on graphene technology.
