Hudson Clean Energy Partners, A Leading Clean Energy Investment Firm, Acquires Industry Innovator Green Campus Partners

Private Equity Firm Hudson Backs GCP, A Top North American Energy Efficiency Developer and Financial Solutions Provider

TEANECK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hudson Clean Energy Partners announced today its acquisition of a controlling interest in Green Campus Partners, LLC (“GCP”), a pioneering development and financial solutions firm for the rapidly expanding energy efficiency and distributed generation markets.

“Together, we will leverage our combined expertise to further establish our leadership position in the development, ownership and funding of energy efficiency and distributed generation project markets.”

Hudson will work directly with GCP’s management team in its new investment position with the company. Hudson’s controlling interest in GCP represents the firm’s ongoing commitment to bridging the funding gap for the growing number of businesses working to build energy efficiency in North America, and to creating cost-effective solutions for reducing energy and carbon footprints throughout the continent.

Green Campus Partners, based in Edison, NJ, was founded in 2009 by a group of highly experienced energy services and financial executives, including Bob Anderson (Honeywell Global Finance, Siemens Financial Services), Jim Thoma and Michael Horkey (Bank of America), and Jim Fuller (Siemens Financial Services). This expert team collectively brings over 80 years experience in banking and finance, with a consistent focus on energy services, to Green Campus Partners.

“The GCP team is very excited to be joined by a firm of Hudson’s outstanding caliber,” said GCP CEO Bob Anderson of the acquisition. “Together, we will leverage our combined expertise to further establish our leadership position in the development, ownership and funding of energy efficiency and distributed generation project markets.”

GCP focuses on development, financing, and implementation of projects in two key energy services segments: energy efficiency and distributed generation, including renewable energy projects. GCP partners with leading energy services companies and project financing providers to structure and enable energy projects which utilize the optimal financial solutions for each client’s needs and objectives. The company‘s development work concentrates on end-use clients with energy-intensive facilities, including government entities (federal, state and local), institutional clients (not-for-profit healthcare and higher education), and select commercial and industrial clients.

“For this acquisition, Hudson sought a company with a proven track record of providing a much-needed suite of capital-efficient solutions for end-use clients eager to shrink their energy and carbon footprints,” remarked GCP Co-Founder & President Jim Thoma. “GCP’s unique ‘value-added’ approach is a natural fit with Hudson’s philosophy; we’re confident this synergy will yield a fruitful and dynamic working partnership.”

“Hudson’s acquisition of GCP affords us a unique opportunity to work closely with one of the market’s most experienced teams,” added Neil Auerbach, Hudson’s Founder and Co-Managing Partner. “With its tremendous client portfolio, thriving project development pipeline, and extensive industry relationships, GCP is truly an ideal partner for Hudson. We are delighted to work with such esteemed industry professionals at GCP.”

Westwood Capital LLC served as the exclusive financial advisor to Green Campus Partners in this transaction.
