Khosla Ventures Welcomes Ford Tamer as Operating Partner

Tamer Expands Firm’s Clean Technology Focus in Energy Efficiency. Tamer is charged with expanding the firm’s support of leading scientific work in clean technology, with a focus on breakthroughs related to mechanical and electrical efficiency, solar and IT.

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Khosla Ventures today announced the addition of Ford Tamer as operating partner. Tamer is charged with expanding the firm’s support of leading scientific work in clean technology, with a focus on breakthroughs related to mechanical and electrical efficiency, solar and IT. Khosla Ventures’ current portfolio includes investments in biofuels, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal, geothermal, battery, new materials, clean water and other environmentally friendly technologies. Tamer joins Khosla from Broadcom where he led the company’s Enterprise Networking Group.

Tamer has over twenty years experience founding and building successful technology businesses. In his most recent position as senior vice president and general manager of Broadcom’s Enterprise Networking Group, he grew the Group’s revenue from roughly $300 million to $1.2 billion in his five years at the company. Prior to Broadcom, he was CEO and co-founder of Agere, a leading provider of network processors that was successfully acquired by Lucent, before being spun out as Agere Systems. Before Agere, Tamer spearheaded and led marketing and international operations for Dazel Corporation, which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard. Tamer also co-founded Megaknowledge, a provider of object-oriented tools and artificial intelligence, that was acquired by Intellicorp. Tamer has an MS and Ph.D. from MIT in engineering with a focus on material science and system numerical modeling.
