SRU Biosystems Launches Label-free Technology Research Instrument Grant

Total Awards of Over $325,000 to Advance Scientific Impact of Label-free Technology

WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SRU Biosystems, a leader in label-free technologies, announced today the launch of a Label-free Technology Award program. The company will award three BIND® label-free detection systems to academic and non-profit laboratories valued collectively at over $325,000 USD to support innovative scientific and drug discovery research.

“The power of SRU’s BIND® label-free technology has been demonstrated across a broad set of applications within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries,” said Richard Wagner, CEO of SRU Biosystems. “We recognize the technology offers further possibilities through new and enabling applications in the academic community and hope to encourage this development through our award program.”

The label-free technology awards are open to both individual researchers and joint applications with core screening centers. The award program was announced during the Society for Biomedical Screening East Coast Academic Screening Meeting in Cambridge, Massachusetts in an effort to highlight the potential impact of joint applications and foster collaboration within the academic community.

“SRU is dedicated to making quality label-free technology accessible to every laboratory,” said Mann Shoffner, Director of Sales and Marketing at SRU Biosystems. “This program was established to extend the reach of label-free technology to a community of researchers that is involved in fundamental, yet innovative, research designed to understand and treat human disease.”

Researchers within academic and government institutions as well as non-profit research foundations are eligible for SRU’s Label-free Technology Research Awards. Recipients will be chosen based on scientific merit, novelty of research and label-free technology’s ability to advance science and medicine. Researchers without previous experience using label-free technologies are eligible. SRU is hosting an “Introduction to Label-Free Technology” webinar on October 13, 2009 for interested parties.
