2022 Sustainable Coatings: Materials and Methods

Deadline: Year of 2022

Sustainability initiatives abound in the coatings and paints sector, with innovations across the entire development pipeline including: energy conservation, waste minimization, improved efficiency, renewable material ingredients, and more. Our client, a leader in the coatings industry, seeks to identify both materials and methods with application to the manufacture and use of sustainable coatings. Pathways of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • No-solvent coatings,
  • Low or no VOC emitting coatings,
  • UV cure coatings,
  • Solar reflective coatings,
  • Water-based coatings,
  • Cellulose-based coatings, and/or
  • Bio-material based coatings.

The goal of this sprint is to facilitate contact and interactions between the sponsor and active researchers or technology developers in this space. We welcome submissions and novel concepts from individuals and organizations at all levels, including the academia, research, commercial and government sectors. All viable technology providers may respond for potential commercial opportunities with the client.

Solvers submitting an entry should highlight key innovation areas in their submission that meet criteria including:

  • Description of proposed novel material
  • Description of proposed novel manufacturing method
  • Anticipated performance
  • Anticipated sustainability enhancement(s) versus alternatives
  • Technical maturity
