2020 Engineering Subject Matter Experts

TechConnect’s client, a global leader in the food industry, seeks to engage with engineering experts with an array of knowledge and expertise.

The client has a custom developed laboratory instrument encompassing electromechanical hardware and software, all purpose built according to client specifications. This device performs compression testing on food items and delivers data output to operators and scientists. The client is interested in identifying individuals and organizations with knowledge and experience in:

  • Hardware
    • Electronics
    • Machining of components
      • Including small pieces with precision fit requirements
    • Sensors
  • Control software
    • Client is currently utilizing LabView but may consider others if the data output is potentially compatible with LabView.

The ideal respondent to this project is capable of providing long-term and in-depth guidance, maintenance, and support for this custom device. Additionally, as the client is interested in exploring the addition of new capabilities for the device, the ability to deliver solutions for new approaches, hardware or software would be invaluable. Due to the size of the device, it is not possible for it to be shipped. Therefore, potential partners should be able to provide solutions and support at the client’s facility located on the Atlantic coast of the United States.

While the client’s primary interest is in identifying a single individual or firm who can provide on-going development and support, responses which address individual aspects may be of interest.

The goal of this sprint is to facilitate contact and interactions between the Sprint sponsor and commercial entities (including startups) or technology developers or research organization/university in this space. Submissions from all viable subject matter experts are of interest including those from academia and commercial entities.
