Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology to work with EcoSynthetix on new biomaterials applications.
The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology will focus on novel applications for EcoSynthetix’ EcoSphere® technology. It is a five year agreement funded partly by Canada’s National Sciences and Engineering Research Council’s Collaborative Research and Development Grant. In the release, Dr. Arthur J. Carty, Executive Director of the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (“WIN”), notes “This project represents a great opportunity for our institute, faculty and students at the University, to collaborate with a local innovator to further our understanding of the technology and its potential applications.” Currently, EcoSphere® is utilized by commercial clients who seek alternatives to petroleum-based binders for the coated paper and paperboard markets.
