Mendel Biotechnology Announces New Research Partnership with Bayer CropScience

The collaboration will leverage Mendel Biotechnology's knowledge of plant transcription factor pathways and the expertise of Bayer CropScience as a leader in agricultural chemistry.

HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mendel Biotechnology, Inc. today announced a new research partnership with Bayer CropScience AG of Monheim, Germany. The program is a continuation of previous joint activities which focused on the elucidation of stress response mode of actions of Bayer agrochemicals like Imidacloprid and Trifloxystrobin. The new program aims to discover and develop further chemical products that regulate plant stress tolerance. The collaboration will leverage Mendel Biotechnology's knowledge of plant transcription factor pathways and the expertise of Bayer CropScience as a leader in agricultural chemistry.

Environmental stress results in significant annual crop losses worldwide. Chemical products that mediate crop stress responses are an untapped market with the potential for yield stabilization in areas prone to aberrant weather. The research program will focus on new approaches to alleviating stress related yield losses through development of compounds that target key components of plant signaling networks.
