Ontario Government Supports Production of New Alcohol Testing Device

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ontario, Canada is helping a manufacturer in Toronto produce the next generation of alcohol detection products.

Alcohol Countermeasure Systems (ACS) is developing new technology and expanding production of alcohol interlock systems. When installed, these systems prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver's blood alcohol concentration exceeds a pre-determined level. The province is providing a grant of $3.15 million from the Next Generation of Jobs Fund in support of ACS' total investment of nearly $18 million over the next four years towards the project, which will create 105 new jobs at the company.

ACS is a world leader in the field, providing alcohol sensing and breath testing instruments for police forces, government and commercial fleets around the world.

"ACS is an innovative Ontario company that is succeeding in global markets. Today's investment not only creates jobs, but also generates spin-off economic activity and learning opportunities in a specialized field. Ontario's highly skilled workforce and competitive business environment are key factors in attracting investment from innovative and growing companies like ACS,” said Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade.

"Investments in new technology and products are essential to remaining competitive. The support from the Government of Ontario helps us to add to our team of skilled workers, attract new business and stay ahead of our competitors,” said Felix Comeau, CEO of Alcohol Countermeasure Systems.
