Advanced IT Center will create up to 500 new jobs.
The opening of the IT Innovation Center in Austin is part of GM’s larger plan to bring most of its IT work in house over the next several years. The auto giant wants to push its breakthrough ideas faster into their automobile lines. Jobs that GM will hire for include software developers and database experts. GM cites Austin’s highly-technical workforce as the main reason for opening the first Computer Innovation Center here.
