Northeastern University Professor is Developing Next Generation, High Performance Fiber

July 27, 2013 08:37 PM EST By: Jennifer Rocha

Marilyn Minus, Assistant Professor of Engineering, is adding small amounts of carbon nanotubes to create this new fiber.

So far, Professor Minus has shown her new fiber is stronger than Kevlar, Spectra, and Dyneema.  She and her research team have been refining their method of using CNTs that are not just added in but also perform an organizational role within the fiber.  The research recently received a new funding grant from DARPA.
